Charity fundraising at Berwins Solicitors has gone up a gear in the run up to the Tour de France.
The Harrogate law firm has always had a strong tradition of raising money for good causes and the imminent arrival of the world’s biggest cycle race has provided extra fundraising opportunities.
So far this year the firm has raised more than £1,700 for its monthly charities Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Sport Relief, Macmillan and Disability Action Yorkshire.
Managing Director Sarah Smith said: We raised £465 at our Summer event alone for June’s charity, Saint Michael’s Hospice, so we’re on track for a bumper month.
Berwins was also a sponsor of the Yorkshire Pedalthon in May which Paul Berwin, James Martin and Mike Patterson took part in.
Sarah said: Paul’s passion for sport has helped him raise close to £40,000 for charity in recent years and his enthusiasm for fundraising has inspired the rest of us.
On July 4, the day before the Tour arrives in Harrogate, Berwins will lend its car park in North Park Road free of charge to the Funzi and Bodo Trust, which provides healthcare and educational facilities for villagers.
Sarah said: The Trust will be selling refreshments to passers-by to raise funds and our very own Berwins yarn-bombed bike will be on display to add to the atmosphere as everyone gets in the mood for Tour weekend.
