Police link two incidents of indecent exposure

30 June 2014

Police are linking two incidents of indecent exposure that occurred over the weekend.

The first incident took place in Bedale at around 3.30pm on Saturday 28 June 2014. A man performed a lewd act in front a 10-year-old girl on Benkhill Drive, near to the school

The second incident occurred at around 12.25pm on Sunday 29 June 2014, on Mowbray Road in Catterick. A driver of a black Volkswagen Polo stopped by a young girl and indecently exposed himself. Although left very upset the girl was physically uninjured.

He is described as having black or dark brown hair and was wearing square shaped glasses.

Detective Inspector Shaun Page, of Northallerton CID is investigating both reports.

Detective Inspector Shaun Page said: Thankfully neither of the girls were physically hurt. However, they have quite naturally been left deeply upset by their experiences.

As the description of the suspect and his vehicle match closely, I believe that the same man is responsible for both incidents.

If you have any information which could assist my enquiries, I urge you to contact the police straight away.

Officers are carrying out extra patrols in the Bedale and Catterick areas as reassurance for the public.

Anyone who can help officers to progress this investigation should contact Northallerton CID on 101, select option 2 and ask for the department by name.
