Police hunt wanted York man

27 June 2014

York police are asking for the public’s help to locate a wanted man in the city.
Shaun Michael Barker, 36, is wanted for recall to prison as he has failed to comply with the terms of his release licence.

He was sentenced to 12 months in prison in 2013, for possessing an offensive weapon. He was released from prison on Friday 2 May 2014.

Barker is described as being white, 6ft 2in tall, with a medium build and brown hair.

Although his whereabouts are unknown it is believed that Barker is in the York area.

Police Sergeant Ray Milligan, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: Shaun, if you see or hear this appeal, I urge you to hand yourself in straight away.

We have an proven track record of locating people who are wanted and by remaining at large you are only delaying the inevitable.

I am also asking anyone who sees Barker to get in touch with the police immediately.

Officers have already visited a number of addresses where Barker is believed to have links and these visit will continue until he is back in custody.

Anyone who may be shielding Barker needs to know that they are not helping him and may even be committing offences themselves. If this is the case they face the prospect of arrest and prosecution.

Anyone who can help to locate Shaun Barker should call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the details to the Force Control Room.
