Emmerdale talks to year 8 students at Harrogate Grammar School

20 May 2014

Harrogate Grammar  recently welcomed the former Emmerdale Chief Executive, Keith Richardson, and the incumbent Artistic Director for Emmerdale, Taransay Chisholm, to give a presentation on the topic of Creating a Character for a Serial Drama to all Year 8 students in an assembly.

In connection to a unit of study on Serial Drama, the English Faculty invited Ms Chisholm and Mr Richardson to speak on the subject from a first-hand experience. With their combined knowledge, the Year 8 students were treated to an insightful and engaging talk on the otherwise complex process of bring a popular soap opera onto our television screen.

The assembly concluded with a Question and Answer session that gave the students a rare opportunity to ask questions to our esteemed executives. Both the students and our guests enjoyed the assembly. They are hoping that a future visit can be organised to promote script writing and to inspire the school’s budding writers.
