Police witness appeal after King’s Road attempted robbery

24 March 2014

Harrogate police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in the town.

It occurred shortly after 2pm on Friday 14 March 2014, on King’s Road.

The suspect approached a 22-year-old Harrogate woman from behind before grabbing her handbag. She refused to let go and the man ran away empty handed, heading down the side of Ascot House Hotel.

The man officers need to trace is white, with a tanned complexion, aged in his twenties, around 5ft 2in to 5ft 3in tall with a slim build. He was wearing a hooded top with the hood up and a scarf over his face.

PC Linsey Moore, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: Thankfully the victim was not hurt during this incident. However, she was naturally left very shaken by the experience.

If you witnessed the robbery attempt I urge to come forward and contact the police straight away.

I am also keen to speak to anyone who can identify the man responsible and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.

Anyone who can assist officers with this investigation should contact Harrogate police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Linsey Moore. Alternatively, information can be emailed to linsey.moore@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5551111, quoting reference number 12140040975.
