Yorkshire Cancer Research launches second Dale Rider Challenge

Adam Evans, from bike store and café Ilkley Cycles, joined Morgan Williams, head of commercialisation at Yorkshire Cancer Research, for a sunrise training session this week at Trapping Hill, near Lofthouse, in preparation for the charity’s flagship event, The Dales Rider.

Ilkley Cycles, which recently opened a brand new shop on Skipton Road, is the official partner of the bike ride, which will be held for the second time on August 31st.

Both Adam and Morgan will be taking part in The Dales Rider, which promises to raise thousands of pounds for the charity’s world-class research across the county.

Morgan said: The Dales Rider really does capture the extraordinary beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. With stunning views, tough climbs and quiet country roads, the bike ride is fast becoming one of the ‘must do’ events in Yorkshire’s cycling calendar. I’m really looking forward to conquering the county’s toughest cycling challenge and raising vital funds to help our region’s cancer patients.

Adam added: With the Grand Départ of the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire this year, interest in cycling is at an all-time high and this is a fantastic event for both amateur riders and seasoned cyclists looking for a gruelling challenge. We’re really proud to be the official partner of The Dales Rider for the second year running and we hope this year will be even bigger and better.

Participants in The Dales Rider can choose from a 65 mile or a 31 mile route, which both start and finish at Ilkley Rugby Club. For more information and to sign up, visit
