Primary school children from around the district enjoy a Gifted & Talented session at Saint John Fisher

28 January 2014

St John Fisher Catholic High School is currently running educational community workshops for Year 5 & 6 primary school children who have been identified as Gifted & Talented.

The workshops began on 13th January and are to run for ten weeks. The pupils, from primary schools around the Leeds, Wetherby and Harrogate districts, were invited to attend workshops in Maths, English, Drama and the Arts, as well as tuition in ‘How to Play Rock Guitar’.

The courses, organised and delivered by the teachers of St John Fisher, are designed to stretch the childrens’ talents and abilities in a fun and entertaining way.

Darren Roberts, the co-ordinator of these popular workshops said: The workshops are a fun and creative way to challenge the abilities of primary school children in a variety of subjects. They also allow the children a glimpse of life in a high school, making for a smoother transition after they leave their primary school in the next year or so. At SJF we are proud of the breadth of our academic and vocational curriculum, and are continually developing our programmes to support the diverse needs, aptitudes and abilities of not only our students, but of the students of the future.
