Harrogate Residents Urged to #SupportThePinewoods

The Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG) has launched a membership drive for 2014. The Harrogate based charity, which promotes the maintenance and conservation of the area known as the Pinewoods situated between the Valley Gardens and Harlow Carr Gardens, is looking to double its members during the year.

Membership Secretary Christine Ward-Campbell said: Membership has been steady at around 100 for the past few years. However, with many hundreds of visitors to the Pinewoods each month we feel there is opportunity to at least double our membership to 200 during 2014 in this busy and important year for Harrogate. Also, with over 500 followers on Twitter and Facebook we will be asking supporters to promote the group using the tag #SupportThePinewoods.

Membership starts at only £5 per annum for individuals and £7 for families. The PCG have also added a new corporate membership category at £25 per annum.

Vice Chair Neil Hind added: We had some amazing support from local businesses in 2013 and the introduction of a corporate membership aims to build on this. Companies who sign up will not only receive a certificate they can use to promote their support but will also be featured on our new web site. The additional funds and support will enable us to help deliver our planned maintenance and events for 2014.

The first event to support our membership drive will take place between 10am and 12pm Saturday 25th January at ASDA Harrogate where shoppers will be able to learn more about the group and sign up on the day. Other events will take place throughout 2014.

The PCG is offering a free pin badge to the next 100 new members that they hope will help to further promote the group and its work.

The PCG encourages all those who live in Harrogate to #SupportThePinewoods.
