North Yorkshire Police is urgently appealing for the public’s help to locate a missing man from York.
Daniel John Jarvis, 30, of Burlington Avenue, has not been seen or heard since the time he left work early at the Royal Mail Sorting Office on Leeman Road at about 9.40am on Friday 15 November 2013.
He had been feeling unwell and told colleagues that he was intending to travel home to the Melrosegate area on the number six First York bus.
His last known sighting was on CCTV as he walked over Lendal Bridge towards the city centre at 9.50am.
His concerned parents, who he lives with, reported him missing to the police on Friday evening after he failed to return home.
Daniel’s disappearance is out of character and there are fears that he has taken ill.
Extensive enquiries have been conducted throughout the night which remain ongoing today (Saturday).
This includes search teams who are examining the route he would normally take to get home and enquiries at local betting shops as it is known he has a keen interest in horse racing.
Members of the public are asked to keep an eye out for Daniel and report any sighting of a man matching his description since 9.40am on Friday.
He is described as white with brown hair, 5ft 11in tall and a slim build. When he was last seen he was wearing a Royal Mail red fleece jacket and a blue woollen hat with a white band around it.
Inspector Lee Pointon, of the York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:
Daniel’s family are naturally very distressed by his disappearance which is totally out of character for him.
We know that he left work early on Friday morning as he was feeling unwell, and this further heightens our concern for his safety
To help the missing person investigation, we are also urging people to come forward with possible sightings of Daniel. Do you recall seeing a man in a red Royal Mail fleece jacket and wearing a blue woollen hat with a white band around it?
Evening the smallest piece of information could be very important in our effort to find Daniel, so please do not hesitate to get ion touch.
Inspector Pointon is also appealing to Daniel himself:
Daniel, your family are extremely worried about you and they need to know that you are safe and well.
If you see or hear this appeal, please get in touch with them as soon as possible or let the police know that you have not come to harm.
