A Harrogate finance director joined Strictly Come Dancing Star, Denise van Outen, on a gruelling trek along China’s Great Wall.
Linda Shreeve, who is a director of The Yorkshire Linen Co, undertook the challenge in aid of Bliss, a national charity which supports premature babies and their families.
Linda embarked on the charity trek, along with others from across the country, and TV star Denise, who was a runner up on Strictly Come Dancing last year.
Over the five days, they covered 60 miles of steep ascents mainly on unrenovated sections, walking for up to seven hours a day along China’s famous Wonder of the World.
Linda chose to support Bliss after Yorkshire Linen Co colleague Dan Kilvington’s son, Scott, was born last December at just 28 weeks and weighed under 2lbs.
Now at nine months old, Scott is at home with Dan and mum Kelly and now weighs 14lbs.
The trek was one of the hardest challenges of my life, but extremely rewarding.
Denise van Outen and her team were fantastic company and, by joining us, they have done a great job of raising the profile of all the charities.
Every year The Yorkshire Linen Co supports a local charity, but, because of Scott, we decided this time we would back Bliss, which is a national charity supporting premature babies and their families.
I set a fundraising target of £10,000 and, thanks to the support and generosity of colleagues, family and friends, I have just passed the £7,500 mark.
I’m delighted that with the support of the hospitals and Bliss, Scott is doing fine, and I look forward to telling him about my charity walk in the future.
The money I raised will help to support many more children and parents like Scott, Dan and Kelly.
