Harrogate couple’s suprise suprise Abu Dhabi Honeymoon

23 September 2013

Harrogate newlyweds, Gary and Milly Prout, have just returned from their dream honeymoon in Abu Dhabi, following their shock engagement live on air on ITV’s Surprise Surprise.

The couple, who are currently living in army barracks in Yorkshire, appeared on the ITV show presented by Holly Willoughby last October. Bombardier Prout surprised Milly with an on-screen proposal and the couple were presented with a five-star holiday in Abu Dhabi, courtesy of tour operator Destinology and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi)

Milly’s love of rollercoasters meant that Abu Dhabi, home to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi – the world’s largest indoor theme park on the entertainment hub of Yas Island – was the ultimate honeymoon destination for the couple.

Gary, who received the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross in June 2010 for his efforts in Afghanistan, overcame his fear of rollercoasters and a recently broken leg to enjoy an adrenaline-raising ride on the world’s fastest roller coaster, Formula Rossa. This turbo-charged attraction powers from 0-100 km/h in less than two seconds and accelerates to 240 km/h with riders exercising 100 facial muscles during the ride!

Milly said:

Gary is such a wuss and has his crutches as an excuse. So I can’t believe he kept me company by going on the FASTEST roller coaster in the world – that really made our holiday in Abu Dhabi extra special.

The military couple, who tied the knot the day before their Abu Dhabi dream honeymoon, said their first holiday abroad together went beyond all expectations.

Gary said:

The hospitality we received at the five-star hotels of Yas Viceroy and the beachfront Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Abu Dhabi and in the city itself was second to none.

Their dream Arabian honeymoon was well worth the wait following a hectic two weeks which saw the couple move house and get married.

Milly said:

We felt like celebs, especially after being so busy with last minute packing and wedding preparations!

Ice-lollys by the pool, dinners at Marco Pierre White’s restaurant and amazing day trips to the souks, Yas Island and the incredible Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, were more than we could have ever dreamt of!

The TV proposal pair said the worst thing about the honeymoon was going straight back to work the next day and are already planning their return to the UAE capital.

Milly added:

We’re massive F1 geeks and after staying at the super-luxurious Yas Viceroy which overlooks the track, we’re absolutely desperate to go back to Abu Dhabi for even more of an action-packed holiday.

Nabeel Al Zarouni, TCA Abu Dhabi’s UK Country Manager, said the Arabian emirate was more than happy to deliver honeymoon memories for a lifetime:

Congratulations to Gary and Milly on their wedding! Hopefully their honeymoon in Abu Dhabi will be the start of their own love affair with the emirate,” said Al Zarouni. “It’s fantastic to hear that Gary and Milly want to take in Abu Dhabi during the Grand Prix, and with an ever-expanding programme of on- and off-track entertainment, we look forward to welcoming them again – perhaps for their first wedding anniversary!
