Six vehicle collision on A59 near York

Harrogate PoliceNorth Yorkshire Police were called at around 7.45am on Tuesday 16 July 2013 after reports of a road traffic collision on the A59.

The collision involving six vehicles, two Toyota Yaris’, a Kia Sportage, a Ford Fiesta, a Kia Pro Cee’d and a Vauxhall Corsa, occurred at Green Hammerton.

The road was blocked in both directions as a result of the collision, however traffic is now flowing freely.

Fire crews from Acomb, Knaresborough and Tadcaster were sent to the scene where they used cutting gear in order to release a woman from her vehicle.

The drivers of the Kia Pro Cee’d and one of the Yaris’ were taken to Harrogate District Hospital suffering from minor injuries.
