Ripon police issue witness appeal to potentially suspicious incident

2 July 2013

Police

On the afternoon of Saturday 29 June 2013, a three-year-old girl was playing in the garden of her home on Cedar Close in Ripon, with her eight-year-old brother.

It is alleged that a man grabbed her arm over the fence. A member of the public saw the incident and called out, causing the man to get into a small black car before driving off.

It is unclear if this was an attempted abduction, but police believe that the member of the public who intervened can help them with their enquiries and are urging him to come forward and tell them exactly what he saw.

It is also believed that two local girls may also have seen what happened and the police would also like them to get in touch.

Police have reminded local people to be vigilant at this time and report any sightings of a small black car acting suspiciously in the area.
