Update on the house fire and explosion in Hampsthwaite, Harrogate

North Yorkshire Police have issued update following the explosion and fire at a house in Hampsthwaite near Harrogate on Tuesday night (5 February 2013)

The man in his seventies who suffered burn injuries during the incident remains in a critical but stable condition in Pinderfields Hospital.

The incident involved a fire in the kitchen following an explosion in the property. As a result of the explosion two front and read ground floor windows along with the kitchen door of the property were blown out.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are continuing their investigations into the cause of the incident, however it is not being treated as suspicious.
