Harrogate Harriers Juniors at the Yorkshire cross-county championships

HARROGATE HARRIERS JUNIORS travelled to Lightwater Valley to compete in this year’s Yorkshire Cross-County Championships.

The competition was strong with running clubs from across Yorkshire competing in the various age groups. The U15 Girls team led the way for the Harriers and were 2nd team. They were led home by Lauren Woodhall in 8th, placing her on the verge of selection for the County. She was followed by strong runs from Millie Howard, Claire Jones, Lucy Ireland, Millie Gray, Alex Teltey and Rhiannon Lyon. Tom Culver-Dodds enjoyed his debut run for the U15 Boys who fielded a strong team with George Mills, Ed Burgess, Matthew Martin and Owen Martin all contributing to them being placed 7th team.

The U13 Girls team were placed 16th and the U17 Women’s team just missed out on County medals as 4th team. Some of the young athletes stayed behind and enjoyed watching Olympic triathlete Jonathan Brownlee competing in the Senior Men’s race.

Ashley Farrar, Amy Brennan, Elio Costantini and Maddy Hinchcliffe all enjoyed the challenge of a hilly course in the third PECO XC League fixture at Bramley Falls Park. The Club continues to grow with around 150 members now registered.
