Police warning after suspected drugs death

7 January 2013

PolicePolice are investigating after the unexplained death of a 24-year-old man in Low Bentham.

Officers were alerted to the death at a property on Hillside Road by the ambulance service at around 11.55pm on Saturday 5 January 2013.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

The cause of death is unknown at this time but the police are investigating a possible link to drugs.

Officers are warning drug users to be extra vigilant at this time and be careful about what they are taking.

Detective Inspector Maria Taylor, of North Yorkshire Police, said:

The investigation into the man’s death is at a very early stage and we have not yet established what caused his death.

However, until we have the full picture, I would urge people who use drugs to exercise caution and make sure they know what they are taking.

If you are taking drugs you wouldn’t normally use, or are buying from a different dealer you could be putting your life in danger.

Anyone with any information that could help the police with their enquiries into this incident is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Harrogate CID.
