It’s showtime at the Royal Hall!

16 November 2012

With popular BBC programme Strictly Come Dancing bringing in record audiences on our screens at the moment no-one will want to miss the Strictly Fantastic performances of the Katrina Hughes Dancers at the Royal Hall Harrogate tonight and tomorrow. With students performing dances last seen on this very same stage in April, when Strictly Stars Pasha Kovalev and Katya Virshilas brought their Strictly tour to Harrogate, these dances will surely score a resounding 10 with audiences over this exciting and dynamic three performance weekend.

Not unlike the Strictly dancers and celebrities, Harrogate’s own premier Dance School, Katrina Hughes Dancers, are excitedly preparing for their very own latest toe-tapping musical extravaganza at the Royal Hall Harrogate tonight and tomorrow.

A familiar and eagerly awaited annual event at the prestigious Royal Hall, performances showcase dancers from 3 to 21 years of age in a range of dance genres including Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, as well as Singing, Drama and Musical Theatre.

With recent highly-acclaimed performances at the Harrogate International Festival under their belt, and an incredible tour of Spain and Italy last year for the older students, it is clear to see how enthusiastic and well prepared these youngsters are. Under the expert and very experienced tutelage of Principal and Choreographer Katrina Hughes, and her team, children are encouraged to learn accredited dance and performance skills whilst developing their character and confidence, as well as co-ordination, rhythm and strength; and it is this potent combination which translates so effectively into an exciting stage performance of some calibre and excellence.

For those who show particular talent and drive there is training available for Royal Ballet School auditions, amongst others, and several youngsters over the years have toe-tapped a path between this School of Dance and a career in performance in adult life.

With an eclectic range of performances from the musicals, including Lion King, Titanic, Chicago, Sleeping Beauty, Shrek and Flashdance there is something for everyone in this exciting, ambitious and, most definitely, entertaining family show.

The Showtime Express is setting off tonight at 7.30pm, with further performances tomorrow (Saturday) at 2.00pm and again at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12-£14 (concessions £12 and £10) and are available from the Harrogate Theatre Box Office on 01423 502116 or www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk
