Harrogate transit van thief rams vehicle during escape

PoliceDetectives in Harrogate are appealing for information following the theft of a Ford Transit flat bed tipper truck in the town.

Following the theft which took place at 12.35pm on Tuesday 9 October 2012, from an address on Yew Tree Lane, the driver was seen dumping rubbish on Green Lane. When he was challenged by a member of the public he rammed into the side of their vehicle before driving off towards Pannal.

The vehicle is red with the words Fountain Construction on it. The back of the truck was laden with gardening equipment.

The thief is described as white, aged around 30, quite tall with a slim build and mousey coloured hair.

DC Fionna McEwan, of Harrogate CID, said:

The thief who stole the truck showed a callous disregard for the welfare of the public spirited man as he fled the scene where he was dumping rubbish.

If you know who stole the vehicle or have seen it since the theft I ask you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.
