Local campaigner Rebecca Burnett has been chosen to be the Conservative candidate in the Rossett by-election on 15 November 2012.

Rebecca, who lives in Harrogate, works for Andrew Jones MP in his constituency office. Rebecca is a member of the St Peter’s Church drama group and is a former Harrogate Grammar School student.

Rebecca said:

I am standing for election because I want to be a strong voice for Rossett on the council, working alongside Cllr Jim Clark. I know about the issues affecting the Rossett area and I look forward to speaking with residents during the campaign and helping where I can.

The by-election has been caused by the resignation of Cllr Michelle Woolley, who stepped down due to a new job.

Rossett councillor Jim Clark said:

Michelle was a great councillor for the Rossett ward and I am grateful to her for all of her work. I am delighted that Rebecca Burnett will be standing in the by-election. She is a hard-working campaigner and will be a strong part of the Rossett team.
