Chambers UK 2013, the leading independent directory for the legal profession has recognised three lead partners at Raworths, the Harrogate law firm which is celebrating 125 years in business in the town.
Deborah Boylan, partner and head of the Employment Law team at the firm is recognised for the second year running. She was praised in the earlier edition for her “extremely clear and analytical approach” and “highly customer-focussed approach” in her work in employment law and mediation.
Deborah Boylan leads a team of four employment specialists at Raworths and joined the firm in 1998. Her experience prior to joining includes working in industry which she believes is a key ingredient to her approach. She is also an accredited CEDR mediator and a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She specialises in employment law including strategic advice on all manner of human resources issues and dealing with contentious claims in the Employment Tribunal.
Jo Thirsk is recommended by Chambers for her work in real estate in the new directory. Jo is head of Commercial Property at the firm and heads up a team of five lawyers. Recent deals in commercial property by the team include the move by the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post out of their home for 42 years, the Yorkshire Post Building on Wellington Street in Leeds, a deal regarded as one of the most significant in recent years in the city.
Simon Morris, head of Corporate at Raworths is also recognised by the directory as a leader in the field of corporate law and mergers and acquisitions. Under Simon’s direction, the firm was recently appointed to the National Australia Bank Group’s regional legal panel.
