Police hunt Harrogate arsonists

25 July 2012

Harrogate police are appealing for information following the theft and destruction of a motorcycle in the town

The Honda Fireblade was stolen at 12.15am on Saturday 21 July 2012, from a locked garage of a property on Sovereign Parade. The thieves also stole a Kona Hoale racing pedal cycle.

At the time of the theft three men were seen pushing a motorcycle along Cornwall Road towards Harlow Moor Drive. The only description of the men is that they were wearing hooded tops and hats. One of the men was approximately 6ft tall and slim. Another of the group was shorter at around 5ft 6in tall.

At around 5am the same morning (Saturday 21 July), police were called by the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to a report of a motorcycle on fire near the Bowling Green in Valley Gardens. The fire completely destroyed the Honda Fireblade.

The black Cona racing bike has not yet been located.

PC Simon Pape, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

If you have any information about the men responsible for this theft or saw the motorcycle being set on fire I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

I would also like to speak to anyone who knows where the racing bike is now.

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Harrogate police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Simon Pape.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12120118194.
