Witness appeal following fatal collision on the A684

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Hawes.

It occurred at around 5.30pm on Thursday 17 May 2012 on the A684 at the junction with Mire Bank Lane. The collision involved a blue and white Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle, travelling from Leyburn towards Hawes, and a red Case tractor.

The 35-year-old local man riding the Suzuki received serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the rider has not been released.

The 48-year-old local man driving the tractor was not injured in the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Paul Cording, of the force’s Roads Policing Group, said:

This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a young man.

I urge anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to it to contact the police straight away.

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Richmond police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Tony Leonard.
