Appeal for witnesses – man seriously injured in collision near Dishforth

TrafficPolice are appealing for witnesses after a man was airlifted to hospital following a collision near Dishforth.

At around 8.40pm on Friday 11 May 2012, a silver Golf travelling south on the A168 between Highfields Lane and Kirby Hill roundabout was in collision with a green Peugeot 106 travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 26-year-old man from the Boroughbridge area, was airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries where he remains in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Golf, a woman in her thirties, also from the Boroughbridge area sustained slight injuries and was not taken to hospital.

The stretch of road where the collision occurred runs parallel to the A1. Police are appealing for anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone who witnessed the actual collision, to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Traffic Sergeant Hamish Halloway.
