York suspected drugs death – update

PoliceThe North Yorkshire Police have today issued an update  (2.40pm Sunday 22 April 2012) as they continue investigations into the suspected drugs-related death of a 16-year-old girl in York.

Paramedics were called to a house in the Tang Hall area at about 11.25pm on Thursday (19 April 2012). The girl was taken to York District Hospital where she was pronounced dead in the early hours of Friday (20 April 2012) following attempts to resuscitate her.

  • The 21-year-old man who was taken hospital has made a good recovery and has now been discharged from York District Hospital.
  • The two people who were arrested in connection with the incident, a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man have been released on police bail as enquiries into the incident continue.

Police continue to ask that anyone with any information about the incident is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 –and ask for York CID. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
