This appointment will offer the force a great opportunity for successful continuity throughout this challenging year.

Iain Spittal commented:

I am excited and incredibly honoured to be offered this opportunity to continue working with and serving the communities of North Yorkshire and the City of York as an Assistant Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police.

Having served my probationary period back in 1986 in Ryedale, I know that delivering safer neighbourhoods policing is seen as an essential service by the communities we serve. It is at the heart of everything that North Yorkshire Police does and is the key to keeping the area one of the safest in the country. It’s my job to make sure we achieve the best results for our communities – within the significant budget constraints we are facing. I remain immensely proud of our Officers, Police Community Support Officers and Staff, and thank them, the communities and the Police Authority for their continued support throughout my service. I am really looking forward to my role as ACC in North Yorkshire Police.
