Elam Harrogate Town FC

Harrogate Town, showing several changes from the team which lost to Vauxhall Motors, left Coronation Park with all three points, courtesy of Jonny Allan’s injury time goal.

Lee Elam’s early free kick saw Alan White’s header hit the foot of the post as Harrogate made a positive start.

Paul Brayson backheeled at Sam Andrew in the home goal and another Elam free kick was scrambled away by Richard Cooper as the Wetherby Roaders dominated.

It took the Badgers twenty minutes to threaten, Jake Green then collected a crossfield pass, made ground, and forced Mark Cook to beat out his powerful shot.

The excellent Tom Platt had a shot deflected for a corner from which Richard Pell headed wide, as a poor first half drew to a close.

The second half started with Matt Bloomer finding his way into Referee Wootton’s book for a foul on Markell Bailey, but Cook easily dealt with Alex Troke’s free kick.

Alex Meechan volleyed a Paul Bolland free kick narrowly wide and Paul Brayson headed a Pell knock down at Andrew as Town exerted almost continuous pressure.

Shortly afterwards Cook’s goal kick was headed on to send Meechan clear, but he dragged his shot across goal.

On 74 minutes Jonny Allan and Rob Youhill replaced Chib Chilaka and Alex Meechan as Town searched for the winner.

Eastwood were reduced to sporadic raids, but Bailey shot wide after a penetrative run, to give the visiting fans cause for concern.

Wes Henry and Jervaise Christie combined well to set up Bailey who blazed well over to Harrogate’s relief.

However, three minutes into added time Craig Radcliffe broke down the left and his deep cross over the defence was chested down and lashed home by Jonny Allan to secure a welcome victory.
