Police appeal for a vital witness following A59 collision

PolicePolice are appealing for a driver to come forward following a road traffic collision on the A59.

It occurred at 5.35pm on Monday 14 November 2011, between Knaresborough and Green Hammerton at the Whixley crossroads. It involved a silver Saab and a black Chrysler.

At the time of the collision there was another car at the crossroads, waiting to turn right towards Knaresborough. This is the driver police need to trace.

The collision resulted in six people being injured, five of whom were taken to Harrogate District Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries before being released. The other person did not require hospital treatment.

Traffic Constable Rob Roberts, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

I urgently need to speak with the driver of the car that was waiting to turn right at Whixley crossroads as I believe they have vital information about the collision.

I ask that they or anyone who can help to identify them to contact the police as soon as possible.
