Motorcyclist airlifted following collision near Green Hammerton

Police are appealing for witnesses, in particular, the driver of a silver car, after a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries during a collision on the B6265 near Green Hammerton this morning.

At around 9am today, Friday 28 October 2011, a blue and white Suzuki motorcycle and a white panel van were both travelling in the direction of Boroughbridge when they were in collision with each other.

The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man from Boroughbridge sustained serious back and leg injuries and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

The driver of the white van, a man in his forties from the York area, was uninjured.

Police are appealing for the driver of a silver car who was also travelling in the same direction at the time of the collision to come forward, as they may have vital information which could help the investigation.

Police would also like to hear from anyone else who was travelling along the road this morning and either witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles prior to the crash to come forward.

The driver of the silver car and anyone else with information about the collision is asked to contact TC Steve James at Harrogate Roads Policing Unit on 0845 60 60 247, quoting reference 12110182869.

The road was closed until 1.30pm to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.
