Police in Harrogate are urging the public to help them trace a wanted man.

Darren Colin Beeforth, aged 26, is wanted after York Crown Court issued a bench warrant for his arrest when he failed to attend a hearing for breaching a suspended sentence for affray.

Beeforth, whose current address is unknown, was charged with affray following an incident at a pub on Cambridge Road, Harrogate on 2 September 2010.

Since failing to attend court on 21 September 2011 to answer the charge of breaching his sentence, officers have been making extensive enquiries to trace him and are now asking the public for their assistance.

PC Dave Mackay, of Harrogate police, said:

Beeforth has shown a blatant disregard for the justice system and I am appealing for the public to help us locate him so he can appear in court and face up to his actions.

It is believed that he is still in the Harrogate area and I urge anyone who sees him around or knows where he is to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as they can.

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact PC Dave Mackay, of Harrogate police, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110160446.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
