Pensioner injured in Thirsk incident

Thirsk police are investigating after an elderly woman was injured during an incident outside her home.

The 66-year-old victim suffered a minor injury when she was involved in an altercation with some youths outside her address on the Norby estate, sometime between 10pm and 10.30pm on Saturday 24 September 2011.

She had gone out to challenge the youths after they were behaving anti-socially in the street.

Officers would like to trace two girls suspected of being involved in the incident and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

The suspects are both white and aged between 13 and 15-years old. One girl is described as being between 5ft and 5ft 5in tall with a slim build and short dark hair.

The other girl, who was wearing a green knitted cardigan is between 5ft and 5ft 4in tall with curly shoulder length hair.

Sergeant Frances Hannan, of Thirsk Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

Fortunately the victim was not seriously hurt but this was an unpleasant incident and we would like to find those responsible.

I am urging anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who was involved, to contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.
