Expansion of private client team at Harrogate law firm

13 September 2011

Raworths LLP, have made a further appointment to their private client team in Kate Maybury who joins the Probate, Wills and Trusts team under the direction of partner Selena Hinds.

Kate joins the firm from respected Sheffield solicitors, Wake Smith and is the third new member of the expanding private client team, following the appointments of Stephanie Pennington and Maureen Gilroy-Thomas earlier this year.

Kate is originally from the Peak District and studied law at the University of Sheffield. She completed her training at Ashton Morton Slack in Sheffield where she continued to work after qualification, specialising in private client work. She joined Wake Smith in 2007 and was recently promoted to an Associate. She prepared wills, administered estates and dealt with mental capacity work, which, she says, is becoming much more of an issue for families now due to our steadily aging population. Many of her clients were high net worth individuals with significant estates including businesses, investment property and foreign elements. She provided tax advice and also acted as collector for a local charitable trust which was established in the seventeenth century. Kate founded and chaired the Probate Group at the Sheffield Law Society, which focused on providing training for private client lawyers in the local area. And in her spare time Kate focused her philanthropic attention on helping the Sheffield Committee of Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Kate said:

Raworths has traditional values and provides a high quality of service to its clients. They have a philosophy based on client satisfaction which very much mirrors my own views on my work. The firm has a substantial and experienced probate team which makes it a very attractive place to work and develop in my career.

Head of Private Client, partner Zoe Robinson said

I am confident that Kate will play an important part in our team. I believe that the common thread which runs through all our team is the ability to be professional but at the same time to empathise with the situations in which individuals find themselves. This is very much in line with Kate’s experience and her ethics.
