Mother and son arrested following Selby drugs raid

22 August 2011

Selby police are continuing their campaign against the production of illegal drugs.

A woman aged 59 and her 33-year-old son, both from York, have been arrested following two raids at premises in Selby and York.

The first took place at a business address on Gowthorpe in Selby at 4.30pm on Saturday 20 August 2011, following a report from a member of the public, which led to the discovery of 25 plants. As a result a second address in the Huntington area of York was raided and a further 34 plants were seized.

Both of the people who were arrested have now been released on police bail to allow for further police enquiries.

Police Sergeant Jackie Booth, of the Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

People involved with the production of illegal drugs should be aware that as well as being arrested for these offences, they may well face having their assets seized.

The police will use every tool available to disrupt the activities of people committing crimes of this nature in our communities.
