Kirstie Allsopp’s lesson in sheep shearing at the Great Yorkshire Show

Television presenter Kirstie Allsopp today (12th July 2011) at the Great Yorkshire Show had a lesson in the art of sheep shearing with Yorkshire expert Roger Charnley.

The Channel 4 presenter, known for offering advice to house hunters on ‘Location, Location, Location’, has spent th day at the Great Yorkshire Show trying her hand at a number of traditional country skills.

Expert shearer Roger Charnley, from Grassington, North Yorkshire, showed Kirstie the ropes before letting her loose on a sheep of her own!

After shearing the sheep, Kirstie was presented with its fleece – along with a pair of shears to mark the occasion by Great Yorkshire Show Chief Sheep Shearing Steward Bob Richardson.

The television presenter has been at the agricultural show filming for an episode of a new Channel 4 TV series. She will be exploring the world of needlecraft and will be getting to grips with some tricky techniques in a series of master classes with some of Britain’s best craftspeople.
