Star-studded charity Rugby tournament launches new website

25 May 2011

Harrogate-based Swing Low Sweet Charity has launched its brand new website and marketing campaign ahead of its star-studded biennial tag rugby tournament and gala dinner on July 9.

Businesses, rugby clubs and groups of friends of all abilities are invited to enter teams for the tournament taking place at Harrogate Rugby Club’s Claro Road. They will have the chance to play with and against stars of the calibre of British and Irish Lion Simon Easterby and ex-England internationals Leon Lloyd, Martyn Wood and Paul Sampson.

The other half of the fundraising event is the evening’s glittering gala dinner at The Old Swan Hotel, which will be hosted by Dancing On Ice 2011 finalist and TV presenter Laura Hamilton. The dinner is open to all, and will give guests the chance to rub shoulders with some of rugby’s biggest names and bid for some of the truly spectacular prizes in the charity auction.

Swing Low Sweet Charity co-organiser Ralph Zoing said: “While Swing Low may not benefit from a budget to match its ambitions, it does have the support of a number of people in Harrogate able and willing to help it achieve them.

We are very grateful to Design Machine for building what is a high-spec website free of charge, as well as to our committee for giving up their time to promote the charity and its activities.

We are also very much obliged to the star players and our host for travelling to Harrogate to take part in Swing Low.”

Visitors to www.sweetcharityonline.org.uk will now be able to easily access information about the event, the charities it supports, news, blogs and simple booking forms for the tournament and gala dinner, while the event is being promoted via Twitter (@swinglowrugby) and Facebook for the first time, as well as through more traditional marketing and PR channels.

Swing Low Sweet Charity is the result of the shared passion of Ralph Zoing and business partner Howard Marshall for rugby and Ataxia UK and Reach – two charities close to their hearts.

Founded in 2003, Swing Low has attracted rugby stars current and past to its Harrogate events, and raised over £100,000 for its charities.
