Ripon police are investigating after a couple were assaulted outside a local nightclub.
Two men aged 21 and 23 and a 26 year old woman have been arrested in connection with the incidents. They are currently on police bail as enquiries continue.
At around 3.10am on Sunday 1 May 2011, a 31-year-old local man and his 26-year-old wife were approached by a group of men and women outside Matrix nightclub, in Kirkgate.
The husband was forced to the ground and attacked before he managed to get away. His wife was also repeatedly punched in the head.
Both victims sustained cuts as a result of the assault.
Around half an hour later another incident occurred on Claro Road (in Ripon), involving the same group of people. The husband was assaulted again and sustained a head injury, which required stitches.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident to come forward with information.
Detective Constable, Kirsten Aldridge, of Harrogate CID, said: “This kind of behaviour is fairly infrequent in Ripon and will not be tolerated.
“We believe the same people may have been involved in both incidents and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either assault.”
