15 month old dies in serious traffic collision in Selby

Police are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision.

It occurred at approximately 4.20pm on Thursday 7 April on the A63 Selby bypass, near to the junction with Gateforth New Road.

The collision involved a light green Honda Jazz travelling from the A1238 roundabout and a red Renault Traffic Master van heading in the opposite direction.

The 20-year-old woman driving the car, an 18-year-old man and a 15-month-old boy in the Honda Jazz, who are all from Selby, were airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary. Sadly, the child died as a result of his injuries. The man and woman remain in Leeds General Infirmary in a stable condition.

The 48-year-old, Selby man, who was driving the Renault was taken to Pinderfields Hospital, where he currently remains.

The child who died has not been named.

Traffic Constable Gemma Brett, of the force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision prior to the collision.
