Two in one burglaries – Police ask for help

Police are appealing for information following a recent spate of two in one burglaries.

They were committed between Tuesday 5 April and Thursday 7 April 2011 from Sutton in Craven and Harrogate.

A blue Fiat Punto was stolen from a property on Park Avenue, Sutton in Craven between midnight and 7am on Tuesday 5 April.

As well as the car, the burglars also stole a Nintendo Wii games console, a Dell Aspire laptop, an Apple iPod and an LG LCD television.

Two white 3 Series BMWs were stolen from addresses in Harrogate.

The first was taken between Daleside Avenue between 6.30am and 5.30pm on Tuesday 5 April. The thieves also stole an IBM Thinkpad, a Samsung television and an Apple iPod as well as a gold and blue topaz ring.

The second BMW was stolen from Yew Tree Lane between 10pm on Tuesday 5 April and 6.30am Wednesday 6 April 2011.

Thieves have also stolen a grey Volkswagen Golf from outside a property on Franklin Road between 12noon on Wednesday 6 April and 6.50am Thursday 7 April 2011. Just before the theft they broke into a vehicle which was parked next to it and stole a mobile phone.

Detective Sergeant Paul Schofield of Harrogate CID, said: “Following this recent spate of thefts the offenders are clearly targeting high value cars and ask owners to be aware of the vehicle’s security.

“I would like to remind people to ensure that keys are kept in a secure place and out of sight. For more advice they can visit our website at

“I ask that anyone who knows anything about the people who have committed any of these burglaries and thefts to contact me as I need to speak to them as soon as possible.”
