Two seriously injured in Boroughbridge collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were seriously injured in a collision on the A168 at Boroughbridge.

At around 5.30am today (Tuesday 5 April 2011) a red Honda CBR1100 motorcycle collided with a blue Ford Fiesta at the crossroads of Leeming Lane and Highfield Lane.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 34-year-old man from Thirsk, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.

The Driver of the Fiesta, a 25-year-old man from Northallerton, was also seriously injured in the collision and is currently in Harrogate District Hospital in a stable condition.

A 20-year-old man, who was travelling in the Fiesta, has been released from hospital following treatment for minor injuries sustained during the collision.

The road was closed until around 11am as police and the Highways Agency cleared the scene.
