Serious assault in Skipton – two men now in custody

North Yorkshire Police have arrested two men in connection with a serious assault in Skipton.

Detectives have this evening charged two men aged 22 and 19 for the attempted murder of a 24-year-old man in Skipton.

The 19-year-old man was also charged with a separate offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a 20-year-old woman.

The two men were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 5 April.

The incident occurred at a house on Simbach Close at about 4.40am on Sunday 3 April 2011.

A 24-year-old male victim suffered a severe head injury and multiple non-life threatening stab wounds. He is currently in a serious but stable condition at hospital.

A 20-year-old woman also suffered a minor head injury in the incident.

Armed response officers were called in to assist with the arrests due to the reported use of a bladed weapon.

An operation commenced which resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old man.
