Preparation going well for the 34th Bilton Gala

4 April 2011

Preparations are well under way for this years Bilton Gala on 2 May 2011.

The Gala starts at 12.30pm with a Parade through Bilton finishing at the Richard Taylor School on Bilton Lane.

The Gala is in it’s 34th year now and has grown year after year.

This years main attractions are the Jez Avery Stunt show and Ben Potter’s Birds of Prey. This is a return visit for Jez Avery and I know the Gala Committee are delighted to see him back. His stunt show uses mountain bikes, trail bikes and quads, often launched way into the air from ramps.

There are also numerous other stalls on the gala grounds with the full details to be announced shortly.

This year sees the crowning of the Gala King and Queen of Mark Nicholls and Jasmine Tyler who will lead the parade.

Harrogate-News met with the committee to see how things were going.

Committee Member Allan Huddart : “Things are going really well, nearly all the stalls are taken now, we need to look at the layout of the main arena to make room for Jez’s show.

It used to be just a small Gala, but we have managed to grow it – we now have around 6,000 coming each year”

We asked Allan what was next in the planning, Alan explained further “We have just finished the design of the posters, so over the next week they will be having them printed and we will be getting them into shops and as many places as we can”
